Contact

You can contact me here.

Please do not send PMs on Messenger, X, or LinkedIn. I don't read those. Thanks.

I have been in academia for over 20 years since earning my PhD, and a PI in several middle to large projects (for my field, Linguistics — so not exactly Large Hadron Collider-level funding). I have also participated in countless selection committees, both for projects or academic positions.

In my experience, early-career researchers often face questions like when to write a project proposal, how to navigate interactions with a line manager, how to manage challenging students, how to serve as an examiner in a PhD defense for the first time, how to maintain work-life balance, how to avoid burnout through some good time management strategy, how to say no, how to establish priorities, organize a conference, or approach job and project applications.

If you are an early career researcher and would like to discuss any of these topics, feel free to reach out, and we can arrange a time to chat.

Please note that I'm not a professional advisor: I'm simply offering informal guidance as a senior scholar. If you'd like a conversation and some advice from an "academic aunt", feel free to get in touch.

Just a few reminders: I don't review projects or texts, and I have limited time, so this isn't a fast-track service. It's a hobby for me, but I'll do my best to reply as soon as I can and help brainstorm ideas.

DISCLAIMER: if you're looking for a PhD position, this is *not* the site for youI can't help you find programs or funds, nor to write applications. This is for people who are already in PhD programs, or postdocs, or in the early stages of their academic career. This is also not a service to help you find a job.

This may turn into a paid service, but for now it's free.
