I'm a proud co-founder of the FARM, a platform for scholars working on Romance microvariation. We aim to stimulate research and involve junior scholars in formulating research questions on the grammar of Romance varieties.

FARM has created a new way of discussing linguistics data: the challenge. 

What's a FARM challenge?

• We invite some prominent linguists who developed influential analyses on a topic

• We give them a set of data and a set of questions, and ask them to show how their theory accounts for them

• We put them in an arena where they have to show the «superiority» of their theory in accounting for the data

• We believe that real progress can be made if we all focus on the same questions/data, rather than each of us speaking about their own data set

• Our aim is to collect new data and to take some steps forward in linguistic theory
